Short pest overview:

These species infest common hosts and exhibit interference competition. Bactrocera zonata (Diptera: Tephritidae) attacks many fruit species (more than 50 host plants), including guavas, mangoes, peach, apricots, figs and citrus.

 

Geographic Distribution:

This pest is native to South and Southeast Asia (India) and now is found in more than 20 countries in Asia and Africa (Egypt and Libya), Arabian Peninsula, including Oman, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and Yemen.


Life Cycle:

It's a polyphagous species, with high reproductive potential. The adult female can lay up to 93 eggs in 1 day and as many as 564 in it's lifetime.
